Don't forget to

Sunday, December 11th, 2011.

Work, work and then some more work is all that's been happening with me in the past 3 months since my last post. Christmas is on the way and a little break will do me good. My journalism and PR master studies are going great so far. Passed my first written exam last week with maximum number of points, but much more of exams coming in February next year. Been in Belgium in October on business and that's been pretty much all of my travel abroad this fall. Well I live between Osijek, Zagreb and Zadar and I guess it's gonna be like that for the next 2 years now untill I finish my studies. Celebrated my 32rd birthday late October and I still feel like I'm 21. :) I'm thinking of going to nearby spa in Hungary again, which I've visited 2 weeks ago and had a great time. As I'm enjoying my extended weekend off (Friday-Monday afternoon) I also managed to do all my Christmas shopping yesterday. Thank God that's finally over. What ppl in Croatia are talking about right now the most is last Sunday's parliament election and Croatia officially signing accession treaty with EU last Friday (full membership as of July 1st 2013). The referendum on either we become part of EU or not is taking place in late February. Right now, the polls say, about 60% will vote YES. I'm doing lots of TV shows and interviews on that matter as well as elections results. I'm especially proud of the one that got really high interest and ratings which can be watched here. On my car stereo are mostly Trent Reznor's soundtrack from 'The girl with the dragon tattoo', new Black Keys album, and lots lots lots of Friendly Fires and Foster The People songs. Those are my 2 favorite bands of 2011. This time of year I usually think of travelling somewhere warm and sunny, but this year no need for that. As it looks we're gonna have a tropical Christmas. I don't know what's going on, but I like it. I wish you all the best for the holidays and don't forget to stop by in 2012 as well. :) Oh and don't forget to follow me on Twitter 'cause that's kinda my addiction right now :) Mwah!

Thursday, September 15th, 2011.

Hiya! :) When someone across the Globe reminds you that you should update your blog, then you update your blog. So here I am, back after 3 months. First of all, thank all of you following me on Twitter, who found this site via my Twitter or the other way around. I can't believe so many ppl read my nonsense and communicate with me. But it makes me really happy to be able to meet so many new wonderful ppl. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Twitter is really fantastic tool. Well, the summer is over (or at least it will be by the end of this week, according to meteorlogists) and all I can say is: thank God, I'm sick of it! If I had 3 months holiday, I'd find some purpose in summer. This way, it's just unbereable +40 temperatures and sweat. Fck that. It's been amaaaaaazing 3 weeks at the Croatian coast and in Rome. Yup, Rome, that's where we ended up. After seriously considering Scandinavia, Rome won (and that was before Breivik and Oslo massacre). We flew in to Rome from Belgrade airport, which was an interesting expirience. So, we had time to explore Belgrade as well. I haven't been in Rome for 11 years and I must say I'm quite in love with that city. In three words: it is vibrant, classy and happy. Nothing beats Rome for me. No wonder it was the center of the World once. To see all those ancient sights again, to feel the atmosphere of that place...ahhhh. The coast was fantastic too. Not thinking about anything for days and just enjoying the Sun and the see. Indeed, life has never been better.
Yes, it's nice to go to the beach, relax your mind and body, travel, see the World, explore the sights, but now I just want to WORK. Yes, work. I've recharged my batteries to the max and I'm ready to kick some serious ass. Fall TV season kicks off next week and by next summer I'll be in charge of central evening talk show 1 on 1 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, along with regular news reporting. My master studies should start by the end of this month too. And will all that I should find time to continue my German course too. We'll see. I'm off to Brussells early October on business and I hope that would be my final travel for this year. So far in 2011 it's been: Paris, Munich, Sarajevo, Venice, London, Belgrade, Rome and Croatian coast. Just about enough for crazy 2011. It's been fun at home too with all different festivals taking place all around. The good thing is they're all mostly 2 day events and take place on weekends. I must have been to dozen of them this summer, small and big. Currently, I'm not listening to any new albums. Just some fantastic singles. 'Hawaiian Air' by Friendly Fires, 'How can u love me' by Unknown Mortal Orchestra, 'My synths are the bomb' by Kraak and Smack, 'To make you feel better' by Cashier No.9, most of them getting heavy rotation on my favorite radio show: STAND BY on Radio B92. So much fantastic music on every evening. Check it out, as you can listen to it on demand any time and fast foward the tunes as you like. Thatsbout it for now darlings, don't forget to come back here from time to time, listen only to good music and make fun of hipsters as much as you can, you know they deserve it. MWAH!

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011. - We had a sick night, bitches!

Well hello my dear readers and anonymous voyeurs! Things happen so fast thesedays, the summer is here so happy happy joy joy. Sooo, travel news first. We got back from London early May, it was super fun time, as always. Still, no fun being at Gatwick Airport the morning Osama bin Laden was killed :) Paranoia everywhere, Hitchcock movie paranoia. London was supercrowded (the royal wedding week), but ppl were in quite festive mood because of the wedding and way more friendly than usual, I think. This time we didn't travel alone but with 2 teenagers (my niece and Daniel's younger brother) so it was all about them having a great time. Off for a 10 day holiday at the coast, early July, then will get back to work just for a week. After that off again for 2 weeks (most probably travelling to Stockholm, Sweden, but haven't booked anything yet). A big transcontinental trip for me in January 2012 is on its way too, but more news as that developes. Most probably going back to good ol' London town in September with my sis, she's eager to go again, already checking Kensington hostels. Open air festival season kicks off this week, big Zagreb INMUSIC festival, then EXIT in Serbia, but looks like I'll be missing both. Not sad, as both are headlined by Arcade Fire and other acts I'm not really a big fan of. Kinda feel big festivals lost their purpose here, they became too crowded, too expensive, too corporate. In other words, they became too western. Either that or I'm becoming too old for that shit, not sure. There's a nice little intimate, wine-drinking festival called SURDUK taking place this weekend and celebrating wine cellers and good music, and I can't wait to finish work for this week, go there with my friends and get pissed.

Received a 2011 award for the best TV story from my former college (VNŠ Zagreb) which means a lot. Went to Zagreb last week to accept it, was really nice indeed. Which brings me to my next subject: my master studies. Which will start this fall at the University of wonderful coastal city of Zadar, Croatia, of course in journalism and PR. Can't wait. Will do it part-time so it doesn't interfere with work too much. Watched "X Men First class" and "Hangover 2", the other day and I liked both, "X men" a bit more - it's so 1960's, so stylish, so Cold war political thriller meets sci fi - so happy my heart crapped its pants :) Got totally hooked on 'Outsourced' 'Happy Endings' 'Chelsea Lately' and 'United States of Tara'. Looove Toni Collette in it, she's brilliant. Now, what can I say about new Gaga album that hasn't already been said? Absolutely nothing. Except I haven't stopped listening to it for days now and seems I can't get enough. Not many pop albums did that for me in past 20 years. Besides Lady Gaga I listen to lots of other stuff: new Arctic Monkeys, new Coldplay single, Cut Copy... but what really left me speechless were albums by The Go! Team and especially Bibio, which I came across totally by accident. My favorite artist of 2011, so far. Just goes to show a rule: good music is always hiding beneath pop sound crap we're exposed to every day. I leave you with some photos from London hoping Scandinavia and the coast vacation will be ace. As that Chinese guy from 'Hangover' says: Toodaloo motherfucker! :)

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011.

So much has been going on in the last 3 months since I haven't written. I start to appreciate quiet weekends at home, like this one, more and more. The spring is here and everyone seems to be in better mood, more outdorsy and more fun. And I should dust off my good old bike and start actually using it. Work is constant and not too much pain in the ass, just like it should be. My German course is continuing as planned. Finished 2nd level and started my 3rd (out of 7) last month, should be completed in June. In about a year, I hope, I'll be able to write something here completely in German without any help and without embarrasment :) I've been watching alot of German TV recently and using German wherever possible. I'm seriously considering continuing my education and getting MBA degree, but I'm still not sure in what. I still have some time till fall to work it out. I've been watching alot of movies recently. "Paul" and "Limitless" being my favourites so far in 2011. Also, seen all major Oscar winners this year and must admitt I'm highly dissapointed by "The King's Speech". I'm developing serious allergic reaction to British retro royal bullshit put on big screen. Hellen Mirren was ace, but this... Not keeping in touch with current music scene that much any more, so only have time for major album releases. New REM (yaay!) , The Strokes (yaay times 1000!) and Elbow (OMG, how awesome!) albums don't leave my player this spring. Also, found time and place for Mumford and Sons, Radiohead and Esperanza Spalding.

In first 3 months of 2011, I've been to Paris, Munich, Sarajevo and Venice. Carnival in Venice was, as expected, simply fantastic. Daniel and I had sooo much fun and I'm definately going there next year too. I'm off to London on 28th. Imagine my surprise realizing I'm arriving just 1 day before royal wedding. I hope Kate and William won't be too dissapointed when I don't show up even I'm in town. :) Expect a full London report. Again :) Now, back to Venice. Carnival is so stylish and romantic, beyond imagination. The city itself leaves you breathless and even though I was there already, back in 1997, nothing prepares you for time travel you witness by exploring its bridges and canals. Here's a photo glimpse of our last month's adventure to this north Italian jewel.

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011.

Happy New Year, everyone! Hope 2011 kicked off great for you as it has for me. As I wrote last year, I've visited Paris, France for a few days and got back on 10th. It was fantastic and magical, as expected and I'd really like to visit again, preferably during summer. I already booked a trip to Venice, Italy, early March and will book another one (most probably) to London, UK (yes, again) some time in April. No plans for summer vacation yet, but it's very likely it's gonna be outside Europe. Work is kinda quiet at the moment, which is good as I need a break. Learning more German every day and have a big German test next Tuesday. That's all for January. Take care! M.

Sunday, November 14th, 2010.

Yes, I know. I'm disrespectful, oblivious, irresponsible and treat my own blog like shit. That may be true, but hey, if I'm not writing, that means something's happening with me, right? Luckily it's all good. Yes, I know it's been 3 months since my last post. And something will definately have to change to make this site more approachable for  me so I can update more easily and regularly.
So, I (finally) graduated from college, late September and got that off my chest. No more Zagreb morning trips, no more sleepovers, no more tuition expenses. I was in Brussels, Belgium on business in early October, was cool. Celebrated my 31st birthday about 3 weeks ago with my closest friends. Last Friday, I went to Lady Gaga show and, as expected, it was AWESOME!  Man, what a performance. While everyone around me were singing and dancing, for whole 2 hours I was just watching in disbelief, like hypnotized. If she continues like this and keeps writing great hits, she really might become a great pop artist. I bought a new blackberry (8900), as I was too reckless with the old one on holiday and I broke it, back in August. I also visited Sarajevo again in September, for a day. I started my German language course late September and so far, going good, remembering all those grammar things I learned back in high school, but still long way to make it fluent. Also, we had a nice Halloween, with pumpkin fondue and nice wine. Booked a trip to Paris, France in early January. I got hooked on this new TV show called «The walking dead» which started about 3 weeks ago on AMC. It's really cool. Kinda like 'True Blood', but with zombies instead od vampires and more cool :) Can't really say what I'm listening to thesedays, mostly what's on the car radio (yes, I know, awful). Bryan Ferry's new album "Olympia" pleased my ears recently, especially the song "Song to siren", which you can hear below this text by clicking PLAY. Such a beautiful, late night ballad. Besides that, Plan B, Groove Armada, some Brandon Flowers and Glee soundtrack tunes have frequent visits to my stereo too.
And now, about the photos below: the last five are from Lady Gaga show, the first 3 are from Brussels, 4th and 5th are from graduation presentation. Oh, and in the case I forget about this blog again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :)

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 - back to arena

Hi everyone, I'm back. Back home, back to work, back in front of my PC. It's been fun these 2 weeks of holidays spent in Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Mostar and Sarajevo. I loved Barcelona, but the sea is grey and the beaches are dirty. Sorry Spain, but you're just not Croatia. Anyways, this is only a small selection of over 900 photos we took while we were gone. Hope you like them. Click on each to enlarge it. Plenty of stuff coming soon, so stick around and I'll be right back. Bye! :)

Wednesday, June 23nd, 2010. - GAME OVER

Hello everyone! Greetings from summery East Croatia. Yeah, it's raining almost every other day and mosquitos are everywhere but I'm loving it. I hate it when it gets over 27 degrees. Yuk. Still can't believe it, but my school days are over. Yup. At least, for now. I can proudly announce I've passed ALL exams in Journalism school. All left now is defending my thesys early July and after that, Mr. Curic will get BA degree in journalism. Yes, about bloody time, I know. In that spirit, here are few photos that have been taken over last 3 years at school and around it. I'll probably start thinking about a drastic shift in my career in autumn, as I need change and new challenges. I'll go and check what is else out there.
Less than a month left until trip with my babe to Barcelona, Spain and then Dubrovnik. YIPIEEE! Haven't been to Barcelona in 13 years, but visited Dubrovnik in 2008 for 2 days (Madonna concert). Plane tickets and hotel rooms all booked, can't wait. After Dubrovnik we're planning a short adventureous trip around Bosnia and Herzegovina, which I'm aspecially excited about. It's a totally different world from touristy seaside. So, galavating around Europe will last for 2 weeks and I should be back to work on August 2nd. Been reading alot lately + listening to lots of Genesis albums, especially "Invisible Touch" and "Mama". My often visits to record stores are to blame. As for new music, can't stop listening to new Scissor Sisters and Kylie singles. All I can say is: WOW! They never get old and spent.
First season of "Glee" has finished, but 3rd season of "True Blood" just kicked off and I can say I really missed some non-teenage vampire TV. :) I really got hooked on Craig Ferguson Late Late night show on CBS. That guy is so funny, he should get earlier show. HE CRACKS ME UP! :) I'm only sorry I haven't heard of him sooner. World Cup fever goes on. Australia-Serbia match just started so I'm off to see if Aussies will kick some Serbian ass. :) GO SOCCEROOS!

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010. - He's back!

Friday, April 2nd, 2010. - Oh oh oh, I've got a rocket, oh oh oh, you're going on it....

You know that Cure song "The Sun is out I'm so happy I could scream?", yeah, Mint car is the name. That's exactly how I feel thesedays :) Spring is here people! Easter is in two days, my dog Spottie is not sick anymore and my baby likes his Easter present :) So, everything's peachy in Chureville. Also, going to London in 8 days so, uberexcited about that too (yes, I know I told you already :) Is it too geekish to admit I'm excited about Glee coming back on TV again on 13th? Well, I don't care if it is, I loooove that show!!! And God only knows how I went through whole February withouth "30 Rock". Stupid Olympics, who needs that shit?! :) "V" is back this week too! "True Blood" is back in June. It's torture, I'm telling you! Now, if only I could force myself start writing my final thesys for school. I only have 2 months left! I'm late for work so smoooch to everyone and will write some crap here after London, no worries!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010.

I've added some new music to "cool stuff to download" section. New singles from Goldfrapp, Shakespeare's sister, Kelis feat. David Guetta and Roisin Murphy. Recently saw the movie 'Precious', been motivated by Academy Awards ceremony to do so. I must say I'm pretty much shocked by brutality of that movie. Great work. What am I doing thesedays? Well, my last semester in journalism school started last week, the workplace stuff is standard and I'm trying to cure my poor sick dog by taking him to the vet every few days. I guess we've all been surprised by unannounced 'Andrea' storm hitting Croatia today. Thank God it's gonna last for only few hours. I drove almost whole hour from work to home and it usually takes 15 mins. Snow's back. Where's that freakin' spring already? I better get myself in order because my hair's a mess, I've grown a long beard and look like Grizzly Adams. Besides, I'm on air this Friday and have to get back in shape. I'm off to London on Saturday, April 10th for a few days of fun with my sister. We don't really do any stuff together anymore and I miss it. Can't wait. I'm trying to force myself starting to write my final work for school, which is about IPTV in Croatia and although theme is interesting, I still lack will. Planning to go to see 'Alice in Wonderland' this weekend (had to miss it last weekend due to work). I'm back next month with photos from London! Bye!

Thursday, February 18th, 2010.

What a happy day in Croatia today. We got a new president. Nice. I really got sick of the old one, he's been around for 10 years. That's 10 years too long, if you ask me. Tomorrow, I have one of my final exams in Zagreb school of journalism. I can't believe it's been 3 years since I started. Planning few trips this year as flying from Osijek will be possible from May again. We've been in 2010 for a month and a half and I still haven't heard any music worth repeating on my stereo, except for Shakespeare Sister's "It's a trip", Plan B's "Stay too long" and Vampire Weekend's "Cousins". If you think I've been missing on some cool new tracks, feel free to email me with suggestions, as always ;) After days and days of falling, snow is finally melting and I have that beautiful feeling the spring is just around the corner. In general, scientists and other people talk about new ice age more than ever. What happened to global warming talk??? At least I wouldn't have to scrape ice off my car every morning before going to work. How I hate that! These long winter nights are best shortned by curling up in your bed with your loved one watching 30Rock, SNL or Oscar nominated movies, like I do. And an occasional glance to Winter Olympics couldn't harm either. Came across this moving video today, just to remind us all Haiti still needs our help. Now that the cameras are gone. Now, more than ever.

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010 - Back to Croatia!

Hey everyone, my one week in Berlin was, as expected - awesome. I can't believe I've waited so long to visit this city. It's...well.... simply amazing, awesome and fantastic! Berlin is....different. Weird, bizzare in some parts, the city which you simply have to love and yet, it drives you crazy. Berlin is an freaky old lady living with 8 cats who scares the hell out of you in an elevator and has young lovers and a thing for black leather. And yet, you want her to whip the hell out of you :) It would take months to truly discover in how many ways Berlin is unique and special. I hope one day I'll have an opportunity to taste that. Here are only 14 of almost 800 photos we made in those 7 days there. Hope you like them. Auf wiedersehen for now. :)

Thursday, December 17th, 2009 - DECADE AND 2009 REVIEW!

If you wondered if I'd forget my traditional end of the year best of list of everything - fear not! CLICK HERE for a special page on what was hot and what was not in this year. Review and essay for a whole decade coming soon!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009. - Goodbye noughties! :)

Welcome to snowy Croatia. 18 cm of snow outside, and still falling. Hope it would stop till Saturday because I'm preparing a little ice-skating surprise for my better half. Speaking of, we booked our Berlin trip and will arrive to German capital on Monday, 28th. Return flight on January 3rd, and will be back to work on 4th. Can't describe how excited I am about visit to Berlin on 20th anniversary of German unification. So much history to learn, so much art to enjoy...Been listening to David Bowie's Berlin trilogy albums for weeks, as well as U2's Achtung baby, Lou Reed's Berlin album and everything related or inspired by Berlin. Yes, I know it's going to be freezing cold and I can't wait. :) Not to mention New Year's Eve on Brandenburg gate with Ida Corr, Right Said Fred and ABBA celebration band. Expect thousands of photos from Berlin trip right here! :) Man, we'll get so wasted. School is out till January 10th, so plenty of time to get some work done at home. This is my first blog post with new Dreamweaver (new, Adobe's version of that web editing software). I resisted for quite some time to switch to new layout, I don't like it at all. Oh, and don't forget to return here soon for my big 2009 and whole decade review in music! Love ya all, mwah!

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009.

Good show last night, on swine flu. I had a great guest and we had alot of viewers calling in. It was a great pleasure working. I'll be short today, just to drawn your attention to two great new songs and one exceptionally great video. Roisin Murphy and Lady Gaga are back and if you haven't realized yet, pop music world today is one huge Amazon planet. You go girls! :) Lady Gaga's video is like "True Blood" series meets Gwen Stefani, and it's so so sooo awesome!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 - Taking the long way....

I still can't believe it's been exactly 4 months since my last blog post. So many things happened since. Whole summer passed. Been to so many places in Croatia and abroad, became college senior (started working on my final thesis for school which is about development of IPTV in Croatia and should be presented in July next year). Besides that, I turned 30 few days ago (honestly still feeling like a teenager), visited Belgium last month and most importantly - I've never felt so happy like I do now. Precious weekends together. Conversations I never get enough of. Waking up together feeling like there's no thing or problem in this world that couldn't be solved. That is my life in the last 365 days. As we changed work scheme this fall, my automobile show is off this season. Instead, you can watch me live Friday nights at 20:45 hosting "Theme of the day". They say one picture says more than 1000 words. With that in mind, here are some photos taken in last 4 months. Summer all around Croatia, trip to Brussels, my birthday party as well as U2 concert held in August in Zagreb. (click on a photo to enlarge). Things to look forward to? My baby and I are off to Berlin on Dec. 28th - Jan. 3rd. Before that I'm very excited about big Pet Shop Boys concert in Zagreb Arena on Nov. 29th. Will I write here before that? Only if you remind me, as you have for this blog post. :)

Not much going on for me musicwise. I listen to new Zero 7 and Tori Amos albums. Recently I became a big fan of John Coltrane and Vampire Weekend. Not impressed by new albums by The Editors and Robbie Williams. The definite hit of my birthday party was Shakira's "She wolf". Seems like everyone loves it. Auuuuuu!

Friday, July 3rd 2009 - Alles neu!

What a chaotic week behind me! And I'm not talking about Michael Jackson's death, fall of 2 planes in only a week time or resignation of croatian prime minister that's shaking up this country in last 2 days. Luckily, I have only good news to report. I'm done with 2nd year of my studies as I've passed all of 12 exams. Yup. Just one more year. I'm totally exhausted with constant Osijek-Zagreb-Osijek travelling, but it was worth it. Next 3 months just resting. I don't even wanna hear the word Zagreb!
Workwise, I wasn't under such pressure. As my auto show season is over, work became slow too. Which is perfect time to start doing things that were on hold for ages. I did some repainting, reaaranging furniture, visited some friends to catch up with, fixed my home PC, payed parking tickets (after 6 months), returned books to library (borrowed them around New Year's) and did some other things I couldn't find time for. I'm still looking for a good dentist, as I've sacked my old one. As I've been occupied with my studies, I didn't do any concrete plans for summer (unlike last year), so all travel will be kinda last minute. So, what will I do this July and August? Well, one thing is certain: my other half and I will spend at least one week in Berlin, Germany. As I'm completely fascinated by german capital, my first visit should be fantastic. As for music festivals and trip to the coast, I don't know yet, but you can be sure the photos will be here. Would like to see Lily Allen live on Exit festival next weekend. Hearing U2 live for the first time in my life on August 10th should be a bliss too. My music player is a very eclectic place thesedays. I listen to german artist called Peter Fox, who was quite a discovery for me. Besides that, lately I was introduced to "Kid Creole and the Coconuts". What a crazy bunch. Out of recent music folder I could mention new Phoenix's single "Lisztomania", (it's contageous). I'm very excited about Blur coming back to live performing and writing new songs. Maybe, just maybe, they could throw Filthy Dukes or David Guetta off the 2009 throne. I missed them soooooo much. Oh, and don't forget, you can also follow my every day tweets on Twtitter: marincuric. Seeya! (the photo is from Osijek beach about 2 weeks ago).

Friday, May 15th 2009. - Love took over Frankfurt

Hallo meine liebe! :D Got back from Frankfurt last Sunday. Can't describe the wonderful feeling of finally being able to land at Osijek airport instead of Zagreb or Budapest ones. We were filming in Frankfurt for 5 days and the 60 mins. documentary will air on Sunday 24th, at 20:30 CET. You can watch live stream at www.stv.hr Material is currently in postproduction, and while you wait, here's a little teaser on the left directly from my Facebook profile as well as some photos below. The song that's been haunting me for days now is this year's obvious summer hit and maybe even the single of the year: David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland (ex Destiny's child) - When love takes over. Here's the video from Miami with version slighty different from official radio edit (which is, in my opinion a little bit better). And now, if you'll excuse me I'm off to write some work for school as well as enjoy this weekend with my baby. Oh, and Croatians, don't forget to vote on Sunday! Seeya!

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009. - You send me messsages....

Spottie & meHellooooo my dear readers!!! The spring is here and I'm busy with work and school as always. In fact, that busy I had to cancel my April trip to Berlin. Instead of that I'm off to Frankfurt, Germany on May 6th for 5 days. It will be the first Ryanair flight directly from Osijek to Frankfurt and will continue throughtout whole summer season. So, last year it was all about Germanwings and Cologne, now it's Ryanair and Frankfurt am Main. Expect photos here! Easter holidays went great, whole week of just work instead of work AND school, so I had a feeling it was a holiday.
Recently I've seen alot of good movies, "Wolverine" not being one of them. Now we all realised the studio that made it, needed free publicity with that copy being leaked on the internet torrent networks to get attention away from poor quality of the movie! Can't wait for "500 days of summer" and "Bruno" to hit the theatres. The other day I realised it's been 2 or even 3 years since I turned on my TV. Somehow I got a habit of watching everything online and downloading. "Saturday Night Live", "30 Rock", "South Park" and "90210" (yes, I know!) are the only 4 shows I really keep up with.

As summer's approaching, I must say I'm not excited about this year's EXIT festival at all as I don't listen or like any of the headliners: Moby, Korn, Manic Street Preachers, Kraftwerk, Patti Smith, The Prodigy.....blah. All boring and spent long time ago! And what I'm I supposed to do know? Cancel my trip to festival this year? Don't know yet, but this moment only artists who could make me go there after all are: Lily Allen, Sander Kleinenberg, which, honestly, isn't enough to keep me interested.

Unfortunatelly, they didn't book the hottest new band of the year: Filthy Dukes. They're sooooo good! Even though we're all sick of that retro 80's synthpop sound bombarding us from TV, radio, charts, clubs (IT'S EVERYWHERE!) for months now, I can' help but dance any time I hear some of their hits like "This rhythm" or future big pop single "Messages". Look for them in music downloads section. What I like about their album "Nonsense in the dark" is that none of 13 tracks on it isn't filler. They're all equally good! How often is that with the albums released nowadays? They sound like Mylo, LCD Soundsystem, Simial Mobile Disco and Daft Punk all rolled up in one big bomb of delight! Besides that, 2 thumbs up for new Killers and Lily Allen singles! I'm not gonna waste my energy ellaborating why is Depeche Mode's latest album the biggest piece of shit produced in last 12 months. Everyone who had an opportunity to hear it, knows what I'm talking about. Not that U2's last album is much better, but at least it has 2 good songs. After few days of despair, I finally managed to get 2 tickets for U2 show in Zagreb on August 10th. Yaaaay!

Currently on my car stereo (besides Filthy Dukes):
Lily Allen - Never gonna happen
The Killers - The world we live in
September - Can't get over
Pryda - Lift
Tommy Sparks - She's got me dancing
David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowlad - When love takes over
No doubt - Stand and deliver

Wednesday, February 04th, 2009. - Acceleration starting

February 2009Hey everybody, Chureville welcomes you to 2009! "Champagne for everyone", as Bubbles Devere from Little Britain would say :) NYE celebration was unexpectedly, in one word - fantastic. Haven't had such a great time with my friends in aaaages. I would post the photos, but they are way too explicit even for this website! :) What's new? Well, 2009 started quiet and slow for me, just like 2008 did. Have some travels booked for this year, the main ones being Berlin in April (together with my baby, soooo excited as it's my life dream to live in that city for a longer period. Not to mention my baby is fluent in German, as opposed to my rusty German not used since high school), and hopefully Sydney late December, if I don't bankrupt in the meantime :) As Ryanair starts flights from Osijek to London Stansted late April, there's a huge possibility I'll be heading to UK again this summer, third time in three years. But this time, I'm more interested in exploring other cities than London, especially Manchester and Liverpool over the weekend. My automobile magazine "Rikverc" is at half of its season, 20th show in mid February. The feedback has been great so far, and we just signed new exclusive contract with Opel Croatia, having ones already signed with Suzuki, Mercedes, Jeep, Chrystler, Peugeot, Renault, Toyota among others. Recently I'm haunted by idea to start my own internet business, uniting my two passions: internet and journalism. I'm still working on it, and if it goes really well, I'd even consider quiting TV job. I'm currently gathering a team of people. As for my academic career, have some exams lined up this month, so wish me luck. Only 18 months of school left till graduation, YAAY! Because of it, I'm still living between Zagreb and Osijek and still didn't get sick of it. It was nice to make a break over Christmas and New Year, but I'm again in full speed. Love life is constant and peachy, so nothing to complaint about in that department. It's getting serious and it frightens me occasionally, which everyone says "It's normal Marin" :) I'm getting great ideas for Valentine's day, so I'll let you know how that went. What's new in my jukebox, you ask? I got plenty of new music for you, all fresh and great. Download links are below and first two songs from the list are, in my humble opinion, absolute bliss and I never get tired of playing them.

Royksopp - Happy Up Here
Coldplay - Rainy Day
Bryn Christopher - Fearless
U2 - Get on your boots
Calvin Harris - I'm not alone
Coldplay - Life in technicolor II
The Prodigy - Omen
Lily Allen - The Fear

That's about it for this time, I believe you're all sick of long cold winter and can't wait for spring right behind the corner. Read ya in some warmer days! Mwah!

Wednesday, November 12nd, 2008.

Hey everybody! I haven't written anything in almost 2 months. I've been away from Croatia alot: After Prague and Bratislava, I've visited Brussels (on bussinesss), Dubrovnik (extended weekend), Budva (Montenegro, for Madonna show) and London. Got back from London 2 weeks ago, where I went to celebrate my birthday, I'm 29 now. Patrick, thank you again for you hospitality. The photos are down below, click to enlarge. It's a compilation of all trips in last 3 months, with some from Helloween party held here in Osijek. Really don't have time to put them all online, besides, takes lots of space. And I'm done with travelling for 2008. I really enjoyed it, but feel like I need a rest. The automobile show I started doing in September is going great. This week, it's gonna air for the 7th time and the feedback is very positive. The school is also going great, as you all know, I'm in second year now. My love life went throught some changes recently, but all for the better. New Grace Jones album is finally out and I love it. And Snow Patrol finally wrote a song I grew to like (Take back the city) and they don't sound that pathetic anymore. Listen to it all the time while I was in London. The movies I saw recently and made a good impresion on me are Zeitgeist and Quantum of Solace. That's it for this time, and if you're on Facebook, feel free to add me as a friend. Seeya!

Hey hey hey, Chure's back. It's been crazy summer so far and I'm loving it. Lots of travelling, lots of sun and partying, but quite lot of work too. Got back safe and sound from 5 day trip to Czech republic and Slovakia, where I had a great time. Prague is a fantastic place to visit. My brand new automobile show premieres this saturday at 9pm. Keep ur fingers crossed. It's called "Rikverc" (meaning reverse speed) and I'm quite excited about doing something completely new and unknown to me. I have a brand new image to go with that. My new hairdo scares little children. You thought that guy from The Prodigy was scary? Wait till you see me on TV :) My second year of college starts on 29th, so pretty excited about that too. Three more trips in front of me: Montenegro, Brussels and London. Now, here comes a real shocker without beating around the bush: I'VE JOINED FACEBOOK. Yes, yes, before you acusse me for selling, hypocrisy and not being faithful to my beliefs, let me just say I'm doing a little experiment. So far is going good. And I'm trying to promote this website on Facebook as much as possible. It's not quite "If you can't beat them, join them". It's more like "If you can't quite beat them, get what you can from them". I'd be very happy if I could merge this website and my Facebook profile together in some kind of Chureville FB bastard. Oh well, I guess FB crew will come up with something soon.
Many of your know of my passion for vinyl. I've been collecting records for few years now and it really makes me happy. And I'm not some crazy, passionate color vinyl chasing the-more-obscure-and-rare-the-better records hunter. I buy records just to listen to them. I guess it's just one of my childhood obsessions. Recently In last couple of weeks, I find myself listening almost only LP records - old and new. From 60's till today. No mp3's, no CD, no anything. Just plain vinyl. And I can't describe it to you how much I enjoy it. I've collected the most important moments of pop music's history in last 50 years on vinyl. The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, U2, other classic rock acts, first synth pop albums, albums that defined 1980's - everything to present day. Speaking of present day music, I gotta say Amy Winehouse and the latest Coldplay sound fantastic on vinyl. Extatic! Orgasmic! Looking for vinyl stuff across the Internet I found this video story which made me very sad. Take a look. It's quite fascinating. That's it for this time. Take care.

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008.

Holiday today in Croatia, so finally got some free time to work on this site. First of all, gotta say Exit festival was great and wanted to share some of the photos with you. Hope you like them. The documentary from Exit was a big success - got great feedback from everyone who watched it. Personally, I liked the Primal Scream, The Presets and Gossip. Even after Exit I still don't like Manu Chao music, possibly even more than before. What a boring uninspired childish noise. That's about it for Exit this year. Plenty of trips for me left till end of this year. By the end of August I'm off to Prague and the rest of Czech republic and Budapest on my way back. End of September I'm in Dubrovnik and Budva, Montenegro to attend Madonna show (my first ever!) as part of her Sticky and Sweet tour which kicks off soon. Early October I'm in Brussels on bussiness and late October I'm in London with my baby as we will both celebrate our birthdays there. First year of college behind me, work going great, private life too, frankly, I can't remember when was the last time I felt so good about myself as I do nowadays. Not been listening to much of new music lately, just new Tricky, Beck, Weezer and Grace Jones stuff (yes, she is back and better than ever!) Below the Exit photos is the link for you to hear her new song "This is life". Kicks ass!

Exit report download

CLICK PHOTO TO WATCH FIRST CHUREVILLE ORIGINAL VIDEO EVER!

Alright people, it's finally that time of year again. EXIT festival kicks off today and will last till sunday. I'm heading to Serbia tomorrow on an assigment to make a report about 4 days of the best music festival in Europe, according to.....well, everyone, from MTV to me. :) In order to give my hommage to this spectacular event, I'm sharing with you my first video material on this blog ever. My last year's EXIT festival report. You can download it by clicking the photo on the left or just watch it directly. (video duration: 25 mins, size: 61 MB, format: wmv). I'm mostly excited about seeing Primal Scream live there. I've been listening to their entire discography so I can get into my specific PS-mood state of mind as well as remind myself just how fucking good and unique they are. They're releasing new album on July 21st named "Beautiful future", so looking foward to hearing new material live as well. More on music, I can't believe Steve Mac's "Paddy's revenge" has been downloaded 435 times from this website in last 10 days! It's wanted on the entire internet and there are still only radio rips around. Also, I have to share with you my fascination with "My drive thru", song by N.E.R.D. Julian Casablancas from The Strokes and Santogold, made for Converse ad. Real summer anthem with weird Beach Boys feeling. It's on repeat all the time on my car stereo. Simply great stuff.

YEEEIII! I'm on top of the world again! :) I have some other good news to share from Chureville. First of all, I have to bragg a bit: passed all of 11 exams and finished first year of Zagreb school of journalism! Yep, I'm free as a bird till autumn. Party can start! The whole gang of 50 students and school management are coming to my area (eastern Croatia) this friday to celebrate. That's alot of booze and student casual sex :) So, passing the exams is the main thing making me happy last few days. In other news: booked my holiday. Leaving for Berlin, Germany on July 23rd (exactly 4 weeks from today) and staying there for a week. After that will probably head to croatian coast or Budapest (if one of my travel buddies sorts his work shit out). Today's the hottest day of the year, so I better go out and get some tan. Read ya soon!

Tuesday, June 10th - finally, live!

Saturday, June 7th - Viva la vida!

Coldplay - Viva la vidaI know I've been ignoring them for too long on this website, but they finally delivered something worth of stopping the ignorement. :) Yes, Coldplay are back with a brand new album. For me, they were never a band to be taken seriously. I thought they were dull and wining. Frankly, at moments they'll always be. if Michael Bolton was in a band, it would be called Coldplay. In other words, Coldplay are estrogen hell for me. Soundtrack for room of brokenhearted schoolgirl. Their first song I could even consider liking was "Speed of sound". I saw them more as fashionable businessmen than musicians. Yes, Coldplay and I had alot of problems. That is, before I got my hands on "Viva la vida". Yes, they were already a huge band, no matter what kind of crap I write on here, but this album will skyrocket them. This time, they truly kick ass! Ballads are the weaker side of "Viva la vida". It's when they break free and loose it, they show a complete new side of themselves. Especially in center part of album with tracks such as Yes!, Viva la vida and Violet hill. This is an album that brings back faith into writing good songs. It's pop. It's simple. It's contageous. It's effective. It's perfectly rounded. And one of the best 3 albums I've heard so far this year. And please, buy it.

Wednesday, May 14th - Hello, life

Tough second half of April is behind me. Solving love troubles, fighting college headmasters over my constant absence and finding out one of my closest friends is diagnosed with deadly desease. I felt frustrated, helpless and quite angry at some point to all of these events. Living in two cities makes an impact on me. So huge I honestly don't know where I live anymore. But that has more good sides than bad ones. As soon as I get bored with work and Osijek, I hop on train and leave. And as soon as Zagreb becomes too chaotic, too fast and too, well, hostile for me, I run back home. Yet, I find myself thinking about going somewhere with no people, just me and laptop or a good book. Yes, appareantly I need a holiday, but that's gonna wait for 2 more months. Just got back from Austria where I did story on preparations of croatian football players in lovely spa town called Bad Tatzmannsdorf. Saunas, jacuzzies, swimming and massages....could get used to that kind of life. That is, if that place wasn't in the middle of nowhere, far from any major city. I'm covering two major music festival this summer VIP INmusic in Zagreb in June and EXIT in Serbia in July (see last year's blog). I'm looking foward to seeing Stereo MC's live. I remember hating that band in high school, but recently I find myself enjoying their songs more and more. Pure classics.

Got some new music recently. Epic post-rock tinged emotional indie stalwarts Elbow release their fourth album 'The Seldom Seen Kid', another staunchand anthemic collection of songs. Download calming "Mirrorball" here. Maybe I fell for it because it reminded me to something Zero 7 would release, but I listen to it over and over again. Also gave chance to new "Death cab for cutie" record. Find it boring. New Madonna is complete shit, as expected. Trent Reznor is back and Nine Inch Nails finally wrote a song which can be compared to their best works so far. It's called "Lights in the sky" and you can find it on their new album "The Slip". It just strucked directly into that special dark place inside of me. Just like NIN 1999 album "Fragile" still does. In my headphones are also MGMT, Supergrass, James, Martha Wainwright and Kooks. I'm still very much into volleyball and practising every saturday and sunday. That's about all from Chureville for this time. Stay tuned!

Saturday, April 12, 2008. - Don't cry, don't raise your eyes, It's only teenage rampage........

april12Hello girls and boys! Here are the latest headlines: I'm still living between Zagreb and Osijek and that's gonna last until mid June. Enjoying my new position on STV (project manager) more and more every day. I'm still doing lots of stories, but also more interested in other stuff such as organising, directing and sponsoring events. After 6 years in reporter bussiness, it's quite challenging not to be "just a reporter". In other news, as it's the case every spring, my hormones simply exploded again. :) I'm like a bunny on E. And somebody is quite lucky because of that.
Seems like my last post pissed the hell out of all you Facebook users. As I've said last month, I'm not gonna write anything more on that topic, I can just quote Kathy Griffin and say: suck my dick :) Today I went to hunt and fishing fair here in Osijek and had lots of fun. I've realised I'm quite drawn to hunter fashion. I mean, I think all that hunter stuff looks great on me and I feel great wearing it. Boots, caps, pants....I went completely nuts about those. And it shouldn't be confused with military baggy pants and other popular stuff people wear thesesdays. It's completely different thing. I bought loads of stuff on the fair. A bargain! I mean, I'm still against killing animals, but stuff hunters wear make me enjoy fashion like never before. Bizzare, isn't it? Does anyone share my new discovered passion? Any Facebook users maybe? :)

Few words about the latest music my dears. Don't tell anyone but, IT'S DA SPRING DANCE EXPLOSION again! :) Heaps of fantastic new tunes waiting on you. Shapeshifters are back with "Chime", their best single single "Lola's theme" (and yes, it's s rework of Orbital's classic). Same stuff, but redone by Paul Woolford was highlight of last summer's EXIT festival. Boy, what a fantastic night that was! You can hear Shapeshifters version here. Riton remix of Hercules and Love Afair "You belong" is simply divine. Download it here. The Cube Boys remade The Who's classic "Baba O'Rilley" for the dancefloor. I already picture myself on some wild summer festival in dance arena dancing my ass off on these ones with smell of grass, mud and beer all around me. That reminds me, line-up for this year's EXIT festival main stage is totally unintersting to me and looks I'll stick to DANCE ARENA. So far confirmed for DANCE ARENA: Laurent Garnier, 2 many DJ's/Soulwax, Tiga, Deep Dish, Sven Vath......ahhh.....absolute heaven. :) Got new REM, Nada Surf, Portishead and Hercules and Love affair albums. I've been randomly skipping songs on them, but looks like I'll be spending few next days listening to 4 new wonderful albums. That's it for today, the rain stopped outside and I'm off to sweap the dust off my bike and pedal for a change. Oh, forgot to tell you, I started training volleyball. I'm getting really good at it and I love it. :)

Friday, March 21, 2008. - HAPPY EASTER!

First of all, I wish you all the best for Easter holidays, may you enjoy your extended weekend as much as you can. Stuff yourself, drink and party till dawn. I know I will :) I hope I sent everyone neccessary postcards/emails. Work first: my story from Cologne is airing once again tomorrow night at 20:30 (PRIME TIME!) on STV. I'm so proud :) I get lots of questions about new Madonna track. Guys, it's right here for you to hear. New season of "South park" kicked off. I must say I was quite dissapointed by the first episode, but the second one was fucking awesome. See for yourself.
Now, a bit about Facebook (again) and (I promise) my final clash with it. This won't be so much about why Facebook is bad, stupid and useless, but more about why I find this or any other blog superior to it. Look guys, I know some of you wanted to piss me off additionally knowing how I hate it by sending me numerous invitations for Facebook, but it just not gonna happen. In general, I've been invited to join Facebook by at least 60 people over last couple of months. 60 people! Some of you have Facebook accounts, I understand that. The internet peer-pressure to join Facebook is astronomically huge, since everybody and their dog has an account. That's exactly what bothers me. I DON'T want to be a part of such community. I have astronomically huge desire of always being different. Of always doing something on my own. I've been blogging for 10 years this December. 10 fucking years. I've drawn the line long long time ago. THIS blog is the way I want to keep in touch online with people I care about. If you don't like it, don't read it. People from my past stayed in my past for a reason. Why the hell would I search for them on Facebook? I don't want you to know EVERYTHING about me. By putting everything about yourself out there in the open, you leave yourself vulnerable from a lot of creepy people. A lot. I don't write often here (some of you are pissed off by that) and when I do I try to do it in as much as different form from one Facebook allows you. This is something I can truly call mine. I created it, I design it, I modify it. This is as much as I want to be out in the open for you. Don't get me wrong, I very much use popular stuff, gadgets and shit. I'm on MSN, I have Googletalk, I even bought fucking blackberry which I love. But, being part of community which measures friendships by number of page hits, I just can't fake that, sorry. Why do we need to know what someone else who we really don’t know is doing every minute of the day? Who would want to broadcast their life to a network of people across the country and then again including those people from high school you didn’t really like anyways? People, this is getting seriously sick. It's stupid, informations you get on Facebook are useless, it's unbeliveably ugly and most of all: it's CREEPY. Like some weird cult. Yesterday it was Myspace, today it's Facebook, tomorrow who knows what. They all come and go. Chureville prevails for a decade already. Enough said. Once and for all: Facebook story closed!

Sunday, March 16th, 2008. - Fly me to the moon....

Just got back from Cologne, Germany this evening, where cameraman and I, joined by fellow reporter from local Osijek newspaper spent a weekend filming a story about start of international flight line between Osijek and Cologne/Bonn airport. That's right ppl, as of this friday you can fly to Germany from Osijek International Airport for lousy 19 Euros one way. So we packed our bags 2 days ago and went to Germany to see what's offering. And believe me, there's a lot to try. Whole documentary will air on STV this tuesday (18th) at 22:00 CET, so make sure you tune in for live broadcast at: www.stv.hr (you choose LIVE STREAMING in the menu). Here are some photos from the trip (click on photo to enlarge). In other news, heard new Madonna track today. Not impressed at all. What a timbalandish bunch of crap. That's all for this time. Tschuss! :)

Sunday, February 24th, 2008.

The photo? No special reason, just one of the recent ones. OK, The best news first: I passed all five exams in my first semestar at Zagreb School of Journalism. 6 more exams in June and I'm done with first year. Bravo me! :) After first few months of not being sure if I'll be able to do it - working in Osijek, studying in Zagreb, with alot of effort, help from colegues, leading ppl of school and understanding at work, I guess I've managed to find a balance. I can't describe how happy I am. I can't remember when was the last time I've read so many books in such short period of time. All journalism and croatian language related. There's been alot of talk about me moving to Zagreb lately and all I can say is that it's not gonna happen any time soon. I mean, all Zagreb job offers I'm getting are insufficient compared to quality, comfor and satisfaction my current job is giving me now, here in Osijek. Renting new, of course overpriced apartment in Zagreb, using public transportation, new enviroment, new colegues, new friends, overcrowded streets and short lunch breaks is just not something I could deal with right now.
Seems like winter is over. 20 degrees today. About bloody time, I'm sick of caps, coats, gloves and boots. Still listening to new albums by Goldfrapp, Hot Chip and kd Lang. I've recently realised Sheryl Crow annoys me alot. What a boring fart she became. I'd expect more out of 40-something female songwriter than stupid pre-school melodies with obligatory sun-beach-surfers background. What the hell is she thinking? Snopp Dogg finally lost it, but again, he was always kinda nuts. Seamus Haji kicks ass with "Head to toe" again. Burce Springsteen sounds great in "Girls in summer clothes", what a nice refreshment.
Less than a month till historic first flight from Osijek airport to some foreign airport. In meantime, Osijek Airport also managed to connect with Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, Munich and London Stansted airport! Oh happy days!!! Anyway, I just think we should all pray together that Eduardo da Silva fixes his leg as soon as possible, that Goran Ivanisevic and Tanja continue living together happily ever cheating after and that there's no new war in Balkans. What a mess about Kosovo, eh? Back to Zagreb tomorrow again as second semestar kicks off. Hope it won't be another month before I manage to write something here. Oh, and this magnificent melody in the end to leave you breathless. I just wanted to find a way to announce arrival of spring decently. It's Shakespeare's 29th sonnet, who wonder about the lyrics. Shit, I got all mellow now. I gotta call my honey boney now :) Damn spring. Seeya soon.

Thursday, January 24th, 2008 - Secret sunday lover

Hiya all! It's been a beeeeautiful day in Chureville :) Hope 2008. kicked off for you well like it did for me. Funny anegdote from work today, for starts. This huuuge guy coming to news room today, saying hello, shaking my hand and saying "Shit, I gotta send you that photo of you sitting in my lap". Imagine my confused face. And then my colegues looking at me weird. And then me having flashback trying to remember when was I THAT drunk. Nope. No result. And then he said: "It's me, Santa" with a little wink. :))) So, that reminded me that I actually have a blog which I should update.

Oh and before I forget, pleeeeease DON'T send me any more invitations to join Facebook or MySpace. I fucking hate those community sites and I've said my opinion about them years ago. They're shit and I rather hang out with my real friends in real life. This is as much online keeping in touch as I and you need, alright? No one can believe that Heath Ledger is really dead. One of the few young Hollywood actors I really admired and respected. What a shame. Off to Zagreb next week again for 5 days of lectures, far away from work. Goodie. Seen "Knocked up" last night, had a good laugh. Will watch "No country for old men" tonight. As for music, I'm listening great tune which I've missed in 2007 Ali Love's "Secret sunday lover". Besides that I enjoy Shawn Mullins, Ghosts and Scouting for girls. New YouTube video for end of today's post. Just to remind you how big pig I can be sometimes, even while working :) All good and bad comments about my beard are welcome! Kisses 2 all!
